❄️ Gígjökull Glacier Tongue
Witness the aftermath of the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption — where fire and ice dramatically collided.

🗻 Stakkholtsgjá Canyon (Easy, 1–2 Hours)
A mystical ravine featured in Game of Thrones, Stakkholtsgjá Canyon offers an easy yet unforgettable hike through one of Iceland’s hidden gems. Towering moss-covered cliffs rise dramatically on either side as you follow a winding path along the riverbed. The atmosphere is otherworldly, with the sheer scale of the canyon evoking a sense of awe and adventure. At the end of the trail, you’ll discover a hidden waterfall cascading from a narrow crevice—an ethereal sight that feels straight out of fantasy. Perfect for photographers, film fans, and nature lovers alike, this short hike delivers a big payoff.

🏔️ Valahnúkur Summit (Easy–Moderate, 2–3 Hours)
Rising above the heart of Þórsmörk, the Valahnúkur trail offers one of the region’s most breathtaking panoramic viewpoints. Starting from the Langidalur campsite, the path climbs steadily through birch woods and rugged hills, leading hikers to a dramatic summit. From the top, you’re rewarded with a sweeping 360° view of glacier tongues, braided river valleys, volcanic ridges, and lush, moss-covered peaks. On clear days, the contrast of ice, lava, and greenery is nothing short of surreal. Whether you’re a first-time trekker or a seasoned adventurer, this hike is a must-do in Þórsmörk—short, scenic, and endlessly inspiring.

🌿 Nauthúsagil Ravine
An enchanting canyon with moss-covered cliffs and trickling waterfalls — perfect for the adventurous spirit.

🚙 Road Conditions and Vehicle Requirements:
Accessing Þórsmörk requires navigating Þórsmerkurvegur (F249)—a rugged mountain track classified as an F-road, suitable only for 4×4 vehicles with high ground clearance. This route is widely regarded as one of the most challenging in Iceland, primarily due to several deep and unpredictable river crossings.
Water levels can rise quickly after heavy rain or during warm periods when glacier melt increases river flow, often making the track impassable—even for experienced drivers in well-equipped vehicles.
⚠️ Important: Rental car insurance does not cover water damage caused by river crossings, including flooded engines or electronics. Drivers are fully responsible for assessing the safety of the crossing. If there’s any doubt, turning back is the safest option.
✅ For safety and peace of mind, this tour is best done with a private guide and a super jeep, specifically designed for highland travel.
Only highly experienced drivers with properly outfitted 4×4 vehicles—ideally equipped with a snorkel—should consider self-driving this route.

🏞️ A Hidden Valley Between Glaciers
Þórsmörk is nestled between three glaciers — Eyjafjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull, and Tindfjallajökull.
This creates a unique microclimate, making it greener, more sheltered, and incredibly diverse in plant life — a true oasis in the highlands.
🌊 River Crossings Like No Other
Cross glacier-fed rivers like Krossá, Hvanná, and Stakkholtsgjá — a thrill only possible with serious off-road power and an experienced guide.
🌿 A Lush, Birch-Filled Wonderland

🥾 Hiking (If You’re Up for It)
Stretch your legs on unforgettable trails — from the Valahnúkur summit with panoramic glacier views to the mystical Stakkholtsgjá canyon.
Want a more relaxed experience? We’ve got scenic stops without the uphill trek.
📸 Photographer’s Dreamland

🦊 Wildlife Encounters
Keep your eyes peeled for Arctic foxes, Rock Ptarmigans, and a wide variety of birds like the Arctic Tern — especially in summer months.
📖 Myths, Eruptions & Real Stories

Thank you Deividas, this trip was one of the most amazing adventures of my life. Deividas not only a great guide but also a professional photographer. Because of him amazing travel images will remain not only in memory but also in photos. Although I traveled on March 10-16, the Icelandic landscapes provided more impressions. Thank you Deividas for a wonderful time and unforgettable experience! Tomas P2024-12-29Verified Fantastic tour The tour was fantastic! Our guide, Deividas, was incredibly friendly and helpful. He shared fascinating information about the glacier and showed us how to put on the equipment properly. The hike lasted four hours and was a truly fun and interesting experience. It was just the two of us and our guide, which made the tour feel very personal. We even had a photoshoot, and we received the pictures the next day. The photos turned out amazing, just like the experience itself. I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a unique adventure!
